Q: How long will it take from my first call / e-mail to you before my site is ready and on the Internet?
A: Time is important in any business so we try and get as much information from you at the start of the design as possible.
As long as the domain name you want is available we can get a site up and active on the web in less than two weeks if required. This obviously depends on the design package you have ordered and the design complexity etc.
Q: Once my web site is on line how is it kept upto date and how much will this cost me?
A: Some companies may let you change and alter the content of your website yourself but we have found that unless you know exactly what you are doing this can really mess up the style of your site. We are happy to make any changes for you and we charge a small fee of £30 per hour - we will invoice you once we have carried out each hour of additional work for you.
Q: What if I want to move to another web design company and I need to move my domain name away from Emneth Design?
A: This is not a problem and all we ask is that you put your request in writing seven days before the required move. We charge an administration fee of £14.99 for moving your IPSTAG to your new service provider.
Q: I keep hearing about domain names - what are these?
A: Your "domain name" is the address of your new website, for example "yourcompany.co.uk" or "yourcompany.com" are both known as domain names.
Every single website on the planet has its own domain name - it's how people find you.
Q: I want to sell my items / products on my web site, how do i do this?
A: In short you will require an "e-commerce" site where all your stock can be listed and viewers will then be able to choose what to buy and then pay using an online card processing company such as PayPal etc.
While PayPal is relatively cheap to setup you will be charged a higher amount in processing fees by PayPal than some of the other card processing companies such as Protex or World Pay. For Protex and World Pay you will usually be required to have a business bank account setup and in place, you will also have to pay your business bank around £150 to get your merchant ID so PayPal maybe the cheaper alternative in the long run.

Q: What is Hosting?
A: Hosting is where we "host" all your website files etc on our central servers. This allows your site to be quickly accessed from anywhere on the planet.
Apart from the hosting service we provide with any of our web design "packs" we can also provide dedicated hosting space for your own website etc.
Each hosting client can tailor make their hosting pack and add MySQL databases, unlimited e-mail addresses, CMS etc You will also have your own control panel for file management, webmail and the other services which come as standard for hosting clients.
Q: I already have my domain hosted on another companies servers - how do I move over to yours?
A: If you have a .co.uk domain, you will need to either manually change your IPSTAG over to our hosting company , which is HEARTINTERNET, there is usually an option to do this in your current hosting companies control panel, or ask your current hosting company to change your IPSTAG for you - there may be a charge involved.. Once you have changed the IPSTAG let us know and we will move you over - quite a straight forward task once the IPSTAG is changed.
If you have a .com (or any other "global" domain name) then this is a more complicated process which we will talk you through once you notify us you wish to move.

Q: How much will it cost to repair my faulty pc?
A: Our initial costs are £35.00 per hour we spend fixing you pc. We then charge £15 per each half hour thereafter.
PC's can have numerous faults but the most common ones can usually be diagnosed and sorted within the first hour.
We will let you know at the time what is wrong with your pc and how much any replacement parts will cost (which are in addition to our hourly fee).
Q: I think my pc has a virus - can you fix this?
A: We can remove the majority of PC infections and leave your system back in a stable mode. We will also install the latest anti-virus software for you FREE OF CHARGE and instruct you on how to use it properly so that an infection will not happen again.
If the virus has destroyed files on your pc these may not be recoverable so we would always suggest that you backup your important files on a regular basis. - we will show you how to do this also.
If you think you have a bad infection - please STOP using your pc as it could be made worse the more the PC is used!!
Q: I want to sell my PC but am worried the new owner may be able to get access to my personal information and deleted files etc what can I do?
A: This is a common worry people have especially in these days of identity theft. We can "sanitize" your PC ready for you to give it away or sell with the knowledge that all the private and personal information which was on your PC before is now gone for good! You will need to install the operating system back onto the PC once the sanitization has completed or we can do this for you.
Q: My hard drive is making strange noises (clicking or whining) is this usual?
A: A clicking or banging noise coming from your hard drive is a sign that it is about to fail and so to prevent any further damage to the hard drive and the data upon it - we recommend turning your machine OFF!.
If you do not have a backup of the data on the hard drive and cannot replace these files we can forward the hard drive to one of our specialist "data recovery agents" who will provide you with a quote for the recovery of your data.
This service is not cheap as it is a very specialist procedure but if the data is important to you - it is always a last resort.
